Jane Porter
Ladies you might want to get your hankies ready, because one of the world’s most beloved series author, Jane Porter, has once again delivered a beautifully written story full of romance that is sure to reach deep into her readers’ hearts. In Dante’s Debt is the story about the coming together of two proud individuals who will do anything to save their families and the uncontrollable passion that they are unable to stop. Daisy, with her fiery temper and her tender heart, is a perfect match for Dante, because she is the only person you could really imagine bringing the arrogant aristocrat to his knees and keeping him there.
Daisy Collingsworth has been struggling to keep her family together and hold on to her family’s horse farm. Since she took over from her father last year, she has come to realize how bad things at the farm really are. But Daisy refuses to give up without a fight and will do anything to preserve her family’s legacy, and that includes keeping secret the reason her father allowed things to get so bad.
Count Dante Galvan is a hard man with a passionate soul who has spent the past two years fixing all the mistakes his father made with the family business. Now there is only one debt left that he must collect on, then he can move on.
Never one to go back on her word or that of her family, Daisy doesn’t know how she is going to keep her farm and pay back the half-million dollars that her family owes Dante in stud fees on top of all the other bills. Daisy is ready to part with her prized mare to repay the debt until Dante realizes how bad things really are, both with the farm and with her father. Once he realizes that the situation at the farm is far different than anything he has imagined up to this point, Dante’s caring side comes out. Rather than add to her misfortune, he instead takes over to help put the farm back on the right track and hopefully save Daisy’s legacy.
Knowing that she is in Dante’s debt, Daisy agrees to his plans. It is only after he whisks her away to his home in Argentina to have his manager train her to run a profitable ranch that things really start to heat up as the attraction between Daisy and Dante can no longer be denied.
And it is only after Daisy has fallen in love with Dante that things start to fall apart between them, because no matter how badly Dante wants her, he doesn’t want to marry her or have children with her. Because the rabbit may already be dead, Daisy refuses to stick around and get hurt any more than her already bruised heart can take.
Secrets don’t stay secrets for long and once Dante realizes that Daisy is pregnant, he chases after her. Dante has finally accepted that he has fallen in love with her and is happy and willing to have Daisy and their baby in his life. However, fate has other plans.
Will Daisy and Dante be able to withstand the devastating loss they are about to incur? Or will it push them apart permanently?
Ms. Porter doesn’t hold anything back as she gives readers an honest look at miscarriages and the emotional pain and suffering that the expectant parents go through. She also deals with the devastation that Alzheimer’s brings not only to its victims, but to the families of the victims as well and the hope that keeps them going. They are often willing to risk everything, including bankruptcy, in order to restore their loved ones back to the way they were once before. Jane does this and so much more with a dignity and understanding that is sure to cause more than a couple of tears to fall from her readers’ eyes.
So if you’re looking for an exciting romance book written by a compassionate and wonderful author to warm you from the inside out these cold winters nights, run to your nearest bookstore and grab up your copy of Jane Porter’s In Dante’s Debt and prepare to melt at the feet of Dante and Daisy just like I did.
